Management & Support Staff

As well as all the clinical staff, we have a large support team who are both the front line staff and keep the practice running behind the scenes.

We also run an extensive apprenticeship programme and offer both receptionist and administration apprenticeships. A lot of our apprentice’s have stayed on in long term employment with the practice after completing their training.

Carol Beedham – Practice Manager

Carol was the former Practice Manager for Almshouse Surgery and continued the role following the merger. Carol focuses on the day to day running of the practice as well as overseeing all departments in their specialist areas.

Jayne Richardson – Deputy Practice Manager

She also supports both the Practice Manager and the Business Manager in their absence. Jayne is also the Manager for Trinity Care Wakefield.

Access & Customer Services (Patient Services)

Our Access Team are responsible for the clinical rotas and the appointments system in practice. They monitor both short term and long term appointment availability and determine where more appointments are needed.

The Customer Services staff within this team are responsible for making sure our patients are given the best service possible and will do their best to rectify any problems that arise. They collate all the feedback the practice receives and report it to the practice staff so they can address any areas of concern. This team also monitor the telephone system to identify where there may be any training issues and also where extra staff are needed to provide a better experience for patients contacting the surgery.

Administration Team

Our administration team look after the daily running of the practice, this includes things like;

  • Registering Patients and queries around registrations and deductions.
  • Managing the results and information that comes into the practice electronically.
  • Supporting other services that run from the building such as Trinity Care and GP Care Wakefield.
  • Recording and distribution of medical and insurance reports.
  • Online Services registrations and queries.
  • Dealing with incoming and outgoing patient records and PCSE (Primary Care Services England).
  • Submitting information for claims for services we provide as a practice.
  • Reporting and collating data for practice use.
  • Assisting the Office Manager in any events, campaigns and engagement excercises.
Medical Secretaries

Our Medical Secretaries mainly look after the referrals and letters that clinical staff want to send. They also deal with incoming and outgoing tasks from other services about patient care.

The team is also made up of staff who summarise and look after incoming communications. Our summarisers screen all new patients records and ensure all the information held is correct and up to date and entered onto our clinical systems correctly. Our scanning team look after all the incoming letters to the practice, entering them on to the clinical system and either adding information to patients records or forwarding to clinicians for appropriate action.
