Bowel Screening

Posted by: samanthaderrick - Posted on:

As you may be aware, in response to the coronavirus pandemic and to protect the public, bowel cancer screening services had to make the decision to reschedule appointments and invitations to a later date.  The programmes across Yorkshire and the Humber are currently beginning to reschedule these appointments in line with national recommendations.

The screening kits (FIT Kits) are now being sent to eligible patients again and those that were sent out prior to the pandemic can now use them and return them.

Patients that have returned the kits and require further investigations should be contacted and offered an appointment with a Specialist Screening Practitioner. If you haven’t heard anything then please contact the free bowel cancer screening helpline on 0800 707 6060 for advice.

As always, anyone who thinks they have symptoms of bowel cancer should contact their GP practice as soon as possible.
