Important Information: GLP-1 Medications and Hormonal Treatments

If you are taking a GLP-1 medication (such as Ozempic, Wegovy, or Mounjaro) for weight management or diabetes, please be aware that these treatments may affect how your body absorbs other medications, including oral contraception and hormone replacement therapy (HRT).

GLP-1s can delay stomach emptying, which might reduce the effectiveness of oral hormonal medications. This means that oral contraceptives and oral forms of HRT may not be absorbed as well, potentially lowering their reliability.

If you are currently using oral contraception or oral HRT and are starting or already using a GLP-1 medication, we recommend discussing alternative options (such as non-oral contraception or transdermal HRT) with your clinician to ensure you remain fully protected and receive optimal symptom control.
