Patient Participation Group

Patient participation is a unique partnership between patients, GPs and their practice which is essential to and results in high quality and responsive care.

About

Patient Participation Groups (PPGs) work in partnership with their practices to:

– Help patients to take more responsibility for their health.

– Contribute to the continuous improvement of services and quality of care.

– Foster improved communication between the practice and its patients.

– Provide practical support for the practice and help to implement change.

Who?

Any of our patients can join our Patient Participation Group. As a member you will attend groups and often receive communications via email or post. You can even join the group if you are not registered with the practice but are a carer for someone who is. The group meets with Dr. Jayakumar, and other practice representatives.

What?

Our Patient Participation Group consists of  Group Members who attend meetings and discuss the issues that are currently relevant to our patients and the practice. All members will receive feedback from the meetings and updates from the practice.

Where?

Our Group members meet at Trinity Medical Centre in our large conference room. We have hot & cold drink facilities and the room is accessible for wheelchairs.

When?

The group meets approximately every 3 months. We also send out information in between meetings to ensure our group is kept up to date.

Our PPG So Far…..

Our Patient Participation Group has been established for many years now and has helped shape the surgery into the user friendly practice that it is today. Our most recent accomplishments are;

– Improving practice communications

– Updating notice boards & screens

– Increasing uptake in the practice survey

– Blood pressure machine in the waiting room

The group meet regularly with practice staff and a GP to discuss any matters arising and any feedback received from patients. This gives the practice an insight into areas they need to improve and also helps the PPG understand the difficulties the practice may have in certain areas and assist in finding solutions for common problems patients may experience.
